The Punjab Kings (PBKS) have made significant additions to their squad for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. The team has acquired the services of India's premier pacer, Harshal Patel, and England's experienced all-rounder, Chris Woakes, for substantial sums.
Patel, who emerged as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the previous IPL edition, was PBKS's most expensive buy at the auction. The team secured his services for 42 crores, reflecting his exceptional skill and reputation as a top-class death bowler.
Woakes, on the other hand, brings a wealth of international experience to the PBKS squad. The 33-year-old English pacer has represented his country in all three formats of the game and has a proven track record in T20 cricket.
As per IPL regulations, each team is permitted to field a maximum of four overseas players in their Playing 11. With Patel and Woakes joining PBKS's existing overseas contingent, the team now has a formidable pool of international talent to choose from.
