WNBA Draft 2024: Fever Win Lottery, Draft Iowa Star
2024 WNBA Draft Takes Place in Brooklyn
The 2024 WNBA Draft presented by State Farm took place live at the Brooklyn Academy of Music on April 15th, airing on ESPN at 7:30 pm ET. The Indiana Fever won the lottery and selected Iowa superstar and back-to-back Naismith winner Caitlin Clark with the first overall pick. The Wings traded their first-round pick to the Sky.
Star-Studded Draft Kicks Off
The 2024 WNBA Draft was a star-studded event, featuring some of the top collegiate players in the nation. In addition to Clark, other notable selections included:
- Cameron Brink, Stanford (2nd overall, New York Liberty)
- Aaliyah Boston, South Carolina (3rd overall, Connecticut Sun)
- Haley Jones, Stanford (4th overall, Las Vegas Aces)
- Dorka Juhasz, Ohio State (5th overall, Indiana Fever)
The Indiana Fever had a strong draft, selecting Clark and Juhasz with their two first-round picks. The Fever are looking to rebuild after finishing last in the league in 2023. The Wings, on the other hand, traded their first-round pick to the Sky in order to acquire veteran guard Diamond DeShields.
The 2024 WNBA Draft is now complete, and the new faces of the league are now known. These young players will look to make an immediate impact on their respective teams and help lead them to success in the upcoming season.
