Zoe Ball's mysterious absence from Radio 2 continues as BBC insiders express concern
BBC bosses have been forced to deny Zoe Ball has quit Radio 2
The much-loved presenter has now been absent from her weekday morning show for two weeks, with fans growing increasingly concerned about her well-being.
The Beeb has said Zoe is simply on "annual leave" and will be back on air on 3rd July - but insiders say that isn't the whole story.
A source said: "Zoe loves her Radio 2 listeners and would never just leave them in the lurch.
Something very odd is going on and there's a lot of worry behind the scenes.
"The BBC are trying to keep a lid on it, but the truth is bound to come out eventually."
Fans have been taking to social media to express their concern for Zoe, with many saying they miss her "infectious laugh" and "uplifting" presenting style.
One fan tweeted: "Where is @ZoeTheBall? We miss you on @BBCRadio2! Hope you're okay."
Another said: "I'm starting to get really worried about Zoe Ball. She's such a ray of sunshine on Radio 2 and it's not the same without her."
Zoe's absence comes just months after she was forced to pull out of her presenting role at the Eurovision Song Contest due to illness.
At the time, the BBC said she was suffering from a "non-Covid related illness" but did not give any further details.
The BBC has been contacted for comment.
